Whatever the stone, it will be geniune. However many gemstones in the beading world today have been either dyed, heated or stabilized. This allows jewelry makers to use natural stones which might otherwise be unsuitable, and that in turn allows you to purchase geniune gemstone jewelry at a reasonable price. Unlike some custom jewelry sites, we will be upfront about this. We will never sell you a stabilized turquoise piece without telling you it's stablilized turquoise. We will also not sell you a stabilized turquoise piece at the inflated "natural" price. Only a very small percentage of the turquoise mined is gem quality and it is justifiably very expensive. The rest, whether it's stated or not, is stabilized with a clear bonding agent to improve hardness and durability. Likewise some gemstones and freshwater pearls are bleached or dyed to improve color and increase matching options. The old adage "you get what you pay for" is true only so long as the person you're buying it from is honest. We will be honest with you. You can depend on that.
